Short answer

Since 14 April 2026, HubSpot's Breeze Customer Agent has cost 50 HubSpot Credits ($0.50) per resolved conversation: the agent answered from your content or ran an action, and the customer did not ask for a person within 72 hours. As of October 2026, a credit costs $0.01 and unused credits expire monthly. The agent needs a Professional or Enterprise plan; Service Hub Professional costs $90 to $100 per seat a month and includes 3,000 credits (60 resolutions).

HubSpot's Customer Agent has a short headline price, $0.50 per resolved conversation, and a bill that depends on three things the headline leaves out: the plan you need before the agent can switch on, the conversations HubSpot counts as resolved, and everything else in your account that spends the same monthly credits.

This guide is for support leads, founders and operations managers who run HubSpot, or are about to, and need a number for the budget. It explains HubSpot Credits, sets out HubSpot's resolution rule case by case, lists the plans that can run the agent, works three months of credit math with every step shown and covers the spending controls. The last section compares a standalone AI support agent that writes to HubSpot, including where it costs more.

PepoChat is our product; its behaviour below was checked in its code and documentation on 22 October 2026. Every HubSpot price and rule comes from HubSpot's pricing pages, Product & Services Catalog, knowledge base and April 2026 announcement, all read on 22 October 2026. HubSpot has already changed this pricing once in 2026, so confirm the numbers before you sign.

How much does HubSpot's Breeze Customer Agent cost?

HubSpot's Breeze Customer Agent costs 50 HubSpot Credits, or $0.50, for each conversation it resolves, on top of the Professional or Enterprise subscription it runs on, as of October 2026. Conversations it does not resolve cost nothing.

Breeze is HubSpot's name for its AI agents and features, and the Customer Agent is the one that talks to your customers. It answers from content you sync, such as help articles, web pages and files, performs configured actions such as booking a meeting, and hands the conversation to your team when its confidence is low or an escalation rule fires.

The per-resolution price dates from April 2026. In a company-news post updated 13 April 2026, HubSpot moved the agent "from $1.00 per conversation to $0.50 per resolved conversation" from 14 April, paid at 50 credits per resolution. Under the old unit every conversation was billed; now only resolved ones are, at half the price.

Three more lines complete the rate card. Voice conversations, still in beta, cost 50 credits a minute. Reply recommendations, where the agent drafts answers for your reps inside the help desk, use no credits. And HubSpot's Service Hub pricing page offers 14 days of free access when you buy at least one Service Professional or Enterprise seat, during which the agent uses no credits. The April announcement mentioned a 28-day trial; the pricing page and knowledge base now both say 14 days.

What is a HubSpot credit worth?

A HubSpot credit is worth $0.01: HubSpot sells extra credits at $0.010 each, either pay-as-you-go or in capacity packs of 1,000 credits for $10 a month, as of October 2026.

HubSpot Credits are HubSpot's usage currency for AI agents and automation. Every paid plan includes a monthly allowance, and each feature that runs on credits spends a fixed number per action. HubSpot's knowledge base article on credits and billing, updated 20 October 2026, sets the rules:

  • Credits reset every month on the start date of your usage period. Unused credits expire; nothing rolls over.
  • Your allowance follows your highest subscription tier and is not added up across products. Marketing Hub Professional plus Service Hub Professional still gives you 3,000 credits, not 6,000.
  • Only users on paid seats can use credits; free and view-only users cannot.
  • A capacity pack raises your monthly limit by 1,000 credits for $10 a month for the rest of your contract term, and can only be cancelled at the end of that term.
  • Pay-as-you-go bills each credit beyond your monthly limit at $0.010, monthly in arrears, in increments of 10 credits. You must buy at least one capacity pack before overages are possible.

Without a purchased pack, credit features pause when the included credits run out. For the Customer Agent that means it stops taking new conversations until your reset date, and new chats follow your handoff rules instead.

One setting matters more than it looks. Accounts that bought extra credits before 16 September 2026 default to auto-upgrade: when usage passes the limit, HubSpot adds packs for the rest of the term, so one busy month raises every month after it. Purchases from 16 September default to pay-as-you-go, which returns to your normal limit on the reset date. Your allocation, usage and a breakdown by feature are under Account & Billing → Usage & Limits → HubSpot Credits.

What counts as a resolved conversation in HubSpot?

HubSpot counts a conversation as resolved when the agent shared a content source or completed an action and the visitor did not ask for a person within 72 hours of their last reply, or when the agent set a lead's qualification.

That is a paraphrase of HubSpot's knowledge base article Understand the customer agent, last updated 16 September 2026. A resolution is the billing event: 50 credits for the outcome, however many messages it takes. The details decide your bill:

  • Only visitor-initiated handoffs stop a charge. A qualifying handoff is one where the visitor asks for a human or triggers a handoff phrase or guideline you configured. Assigning the conversation to a rep yourself, or through a workflow, does not count.
  • The status is set 72 hours after the visitor's last message, then fixed. A later message from a rep, a transfer request or negative feedback does not change it, so the current week's resolution numbers always lag.
  • Lead qualification counts at once. A lead marked qualified, partially qualified or not qualified is a resolution as soon as the status is set.
  • Email threads can be billed twice. If a customer replies in an email thread more than 72 hours later, the conversation reopens with a fresh window, and another resolution spends another 50 credits.
  • A deflection is not a resolution. HubSpot's reports count a conversation the agent handled alone as a deflection even when it could not answer; with no source shared and no action run, that conversation uses no credits.

HubSpot describes the reopening for email threads. For chat, the same article says a conversation closes on its own when the visitor does not reply within 24 hours.

A brass hourglass stands on a weathered wooden table with its sand settled in the lower glass bulb
HubSpot waits 72 hours after the visitor's last reply before it decides whether a conversation is a resolution, and the status then stays as it is.

Intercom draws the line differently. Its help center counts an assumed resolution for Fin after 24 hours of silence and removes the charge if the customer later comes back for help; the Intercom Fin pricing breakdown covers the rest. Under both rules, a visitor who gave up after a wrong answer is billed like one who was helped, because a quiet visitor looks the same either way. Read a sample of resolved conversations every month.

Which HubSpot plans include the Customer Agent?

The Customer Agent runs only on Professional and Enterprise editions, as of October 2026: HubSpot's free tools and Starter plans cannot deploy it, and every resolution past the included credits is billed on the editions that can.

Prices from HubSpot's Service Hub and Smart CRM pricing pages and its Product & Services Catalog, checked 22 October 2026. Paying monthly on Professional still means an annual commitment.

On the Service Hub pricing page, the agent sits in Professional alongside the help desk workspace, a knowledge base tool, the customer portal and feedback surveys. HubSpot's knowledge base lists the agent on the Professional and Enterprise editions of every hub, though, and the Smart CRM pricing page shows it on Smart CRM Professional with 3,000 credits and no onboarding fee listed. That is the lowest list price for the agent among HubSpot's Professional editions; check with HubSpot that it covers the channels and inbox you need before you buy.

Two requirements apply on any tier. The agent needs a live chat, WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger channel connected to the conversations inbox or help desk, and on a website not hosted by HubSpot the HubSpot tracking code must be on the pages where the chat runs. HubSpot's catalog also lists email, forms and calling, in beta, among the agent's channels.

What does the Customer Agent cost per month? Three worked months

On Service Hub Professional, the Customer Agent's monthly credit bill is resolutions times 50 credits, minus the 3,000 included, times $0.01: $20 to $40 at 200 conversations, $220 to $320 at 1,000 and $1,220 to $1,720 at 5,000.

The table assumes every conversation reaches the agent through a text channel, that no other feature spends the included credits, and resolution rates of 50% and 70%. HubSpot's own figures, measured on its own definition, put the average at 65% (April 2026, across more than 8,000 customers) to 70% (its product page). To estimate your conversation count from traffic, use our sizing formula.

Credit prices and allowances from HubSpot's pricing page and Product & Services Catalog, checked 22 October 2026. Seats and onboarding are extra.

Now add seats at the annual-billing rate of $90:

  1. 200 conversations, two people. Two Service Seats are $180, so the month costs $200 to $220. Add the $1,500 onboarding fee once, and year one comes to $3,900 to $4,140.
  2. 1,000 conversations, three people. Seats are $270 and credits $220 to $320, so $490 to $590 a month. At 70%, the credits alone are $0.32 per conversation.
  3. 5,000 conversations, five people. Seats are $450 and credits $1,220 to $1,720, so $1,670 to $2,170 a month. At this volume the credits outweigh the seats.

How you buy the extra credits changes the bill in quiet months. Take the 1,000-conversation month at 70%: 35,000 credits against 3,000 included. You could buy 32 capacity packs for $320 a month, owed every month for the rest of the term. Or buy one pack and let pay-as-you-go cover the rest: $10 plus 31,000 × $0.01, also $320 this month. A quiet month of 10,000 credits then costs $10 plus 6,000 × $0.01, which is $70, against $320 with the packs.

The trap is the spend limit. Once you buy a pack, HubSpot sets an account-wide limit 50% above your monthly credits: with 3,000 included and one pack, that is 6,000 credits, or 120 resolutions, after which credit features pause. Raise the limit to your real budget before the agent goes live.

What else spends the same HubSpot Credits?

Every credit-based HubSpot feature draws from one monthly pool, so the Customer Agent shares its allowance with tools such as the prospecting agent, at 100 credits per lead, and AI actions in workflows, at 10 credits each.

Rates from the HubSpot Credits Rate Sheet in HubSpot's Product & Services Catalog, checked 22 October 2026. Beta rates can change.

Professional's 3,000 included credits buy 60 resolutions, or 30 prospecting leads, or 300 data agent answers, or three pieces from the content agent. If marketing runs the content agent three times early in the month, support starts that month with no included credits left.

Colourful arcade tokens marked 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 lie among silver coins inside a coin-pusher machine
Like arcade tokens, HubSpot Credits are one currency spent at different rates: 10 for an AI workflow action, 50 for a resolution and 100 for a prospecting lead.

HubSpot's controls can cap a tool but cannot reserve credits for one. A feature limit is a monthly spending ceiling, so the only way to protect support's share is to cap the other tools. HubSpot also warns that beta features may start to use credits and aims, without promising, to give 30 days' notice. A budget routine that works:

  1. Start the 14-day free access and read the resolution report before the meter runs. It is open to accounts that used fewer than 1,250 Customer Agent credits in the last 12 months, and the agent switches itself off when the period ends.
  2. Check your overage setting, and prefer pay-as-you-go if your volume swings.
  3. Set the account limit to your budget and a feature limit for the Customer Agent.
  4. Set feature limits on content, prospecting and other credit tools.
  5. Watch the alerts HubSpot sends to Super Admins and billing contacts at 75%, 85% and 90% of your credits.
  6. Pause the agent's credit usage while you rework its content; HubSpot says stopping can take a few hours.

When is a standalone AI support agent cheaper than HubSpot's?

A standalone AI support agent is usually cheaper for a team that is not already paying for HubSpot Professional, because it avoids the Professional seats, and on Service Hub the $1,500 onboarding fee, that come before the first $0.50 resolution.

HubSpot's agent has real advantages. It is trained on CRM records and past conversations as well as your content, so it can answer about this customer rather than in general. It hands off inside the help desk your reps already use, and one agent covers chat, email, forms, WhatsApp and Messenger. It charges nothing when a visitor asks for a person, and you can cap its spending per account and per feature. If your company already runs on HubSpot Professional, those advantages usually outweigh the credits.

PepoChat is an AI support agent for websites that answers from your knowledge base, built from your site, documents and Notion or Google Drive pages, and hands conversations to a team inbox for human handoff. Its HubSpot integration connects with one click where the button is offered, or with a Service Key, and gives the agent two actions: find a contact by email and create a ticket in your default pipeline. Every feature is on the free plan except new-lead emails. Starter is $49 a month for 2,000 AI replies and 3 members, Growth $149 for 10,000 replies and 10 members, and replies past the allowance cost $10 per 1,000.

The same three months, at two to three AI replies per conversation:

  • 200 conversations use 400 to 600 replies: Starter, $49.
  • 1,000 conversations use 2,000 to 3,000 replies: Starter, $49 to $59.
  • 5,000 conversations use 10,000 to 15,000 replies: Growth, $149 to $199.

If you already pay for Professional seats, compare only the credit lines, and HubSpot wins the smallest month: $20 to $40 against $49. From about 160 resolutions a month, HubSpot's credits pass $49.

The limits are real too. PepoChat bills every AI reply, resolved or not, and has no spend cap: paid overage keeps flowing and is billed. It is web only, with no email, WhatsApp, Messenger or phone channel. Its HubSpot actions do not create contacts, read deals or run workflows, and the ticket is not linked to a contact; leads reach HubSpot by webhook, Zapier or a custom action, as the guide to sending chatbot leads to HubSpot shows. PepoChat publishes no resolution rate.

Frequently asked questions

How much does HubSpot Breeze Customer Agent cost?
As of October 2026, HubSpot charges 50 HubSpot Credits, or $0.50, for each conversation the Customer Agent resolves, on top of a Professional or Enterprise subscription. Service Hub Professional costs $90 to $100 per seat a month plus a one-time $1,500 onboarding fee and includes 3,000 credits, which cover 60 resolutions. Extra credits cost $0.01 each.
What is a HubSpot credit worth?
One HubSpot credit is worth $0.01. As of October 2026, HubSpot sells extra credits pay-as-you-go at $0.010 each, billed in steps of 10 credits, or in capacity packs of 1,000 credits for $10 a month for the rest of your contract term. Paid plans include a monthly allowance: 500 credits on Starter, 3,000 on Professional and 5,000 on Enterprise.
What counts as a resolved conversation in HubSpot?
HubSpot counts a resolution when the Customer Agent shared a content source or completed an action and the visitor did not ask for a person, or trigger a handoff rule, within 72 hours of their last reply. A lead the agent marks qualified, partially qualified or not qualified also counts. Assigning the conversation to a rep, even by workflow, does not stop the charge.
Is the Customer Agent included in Service Hub?
Yes, as of October 2026, in Service Hub Professional and Enterprise, but each resolution still spends credits. Professional includes 3,000 credits a month and Enterprise 5,000, enough for 60 and 100 resolutions. Service Hub Starter and HubSpot's free tools cannot run the agent. HubSpot's knowledge base also lists it on the Professional and Enterprise editions of its other hubs, including Smart CRM.
Can I use Breeze Customer Agent on HubSpot's free CRM?
No. As of October 2026 the Customer Agent needs a Professional or Enterprise edition, and HubSpot's free tools offer only bots for ticket creation, lead qualification and meeting booking. To stay on the free CRM, you can run a standalone AI support agent on your website, such as PepoChat, which finds HubSpot contacts by email and creates HubSpot tickets.
Do unused HubSpot credits roll over?
No. HubSpot Credits reset each month on your usage-period start date, and unused credits expire instead of carrying over, as of October 2026. Purchased capacity packs also run for the rest of your contract term, so packs bought for a peak month are paid for in quiet months too. Pay-as-you-go overage, which needs one pack first, avoids most of that.
