Best AI Chatbots for Zendesk, Freshdesk and HubSpot (2026)
Zendesk AI agents, Freddy and HubSpot's Customer Agent compared with Intercom Fin, PepoChat and four other AI chatbots that file tickets into your helpdesk.

Short answer
As of November 2026, the best AI chatbot for a helpdesk you already run is usually its own: Zendesk AI agents ($1.50 to $2.00 per resolution past 5 to 10 per agent), Freddy AI Agent ($49 per 100 sessions after a one-time 500) or HubSpot's Customer Agent ($0.50 per resolution). Intercom Fin works across all three at $0.99 per outcome. PepoChat is the low-cost website front door that files and checks tickets, free to start.
You already pay for Zendesk, Freshdesk or HubSpot, your team works tickets there every day, and you want an AI agent on the website that answers routine questions and sends the rest into that queue. The question is which AI goes in front of the helpdesk you have, and where its handoff lands.
There are two routes. Each helpdesk now sells its own AI agent, billed per resolution, session or credit on top of your agent seats. Third-party AI agents connect from outside: some reply inside your tickets and pass live chats to your agents, others create a ticket with a summary and leave the follow-up to email. This roundup compares both routes for teams of one to twenty agents.
PepoChat is our product; we include it where it fits and say where other tools are the better choice. Facts below were checked on vendor pages on 4 November 2026.
Which AI chatbots integrate with Zendesk, Freshdesk and HubSpot?
Nine tools fit this job: three are the helpdesks' own AI agents, and four of the six outside tools (Intercom Fin, Chatbase, Kommunicate and PepoChat) connect to all three helpdesks. They differ most in whether a handoff arrives as a live chat or as a ticket.
| Tool | Zendesk | Freshdesk | HubSpot | AI pricing (Nov 2026) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Zendesk AI agents | Native; live handoff in the agent workspace | No | No | 5 to 10 resolutions per agent, then $1.50 to $2.00 each |
| Freddy AI Agent | No | Native; chat needs Freshdesk Omni | No | 500 sessions once, then $49 per 100 |
| HubSpot Customer Agent | No | No | Native; hands off in the help desk | $0.50 per resolution, Professional plans |
| Intercom Fin | Replies to tickets and messaging; live handoff | Replies to tickets and Freshchat; live handoff | Replies to tickets and chat; live handoff | $0.99 per outcome, 50 a month minimum |
| PepoChat | Creates tickets, checks status | Creates tickets, checks status | Finds contacts, creates tickets | Free 200 replies; $39 for 2,000 |
| Chatbase | Replies to tickets; full transcript; live handoff | Creates tickets; Freshchat handoff | Creates tickets | Integrations from $150 a month |
| Kommunicate | Bot inside Zendesk's messaging widget | Tickets on resolve or forward | Tickets and contacts on Enterprise | $200 a month for 2,000 conversations |
| Botpress | Enriched ticket on handoff | No integration found | Contacts, tickets, live handoff | $150 a month billed yearly, 250 conversations |
| Tidio | Operators create tickets from a chat | Not listed | Contact sync, transcripts as notes | Lyro from $39 for 50 conversations |

How we compared these tools
Five criteria decide whether an AI agent works with a helpdesk you keep. An AI front door is an AI agent that sits in front of your helpdesk on the website, answers what your content covers, and passes the rest into the helpdesk queue.
- Ticket creation with a summary. The ticket should carry the visitor's email, a clear subject and enough context to act on.
- Live handoff into the helpdesk. A live handoff is a transfer of the open chat to a human agent while the visitor is still on the page. A ticket handoff is the slower alternative: the AI files a ticket and the reply goes out by email. The human handoff guide explains when each is right.
- Ticket status lookups. Can a visitor ask "any update on 5821?" and get an answer?
- Helpdesk coverage. Which of the three helpdesks it supports, and on which plan.
- Price stacking. Price stacking is the AI bill added on top of the helpdesk seats you already pay, so we name the unit each vendor meters.
We read each vendor's pricing page, help center and integration docs on 4 November 2026 and compared them on the criteria above. We did not run paid trials of every tool.
1. Zendesk AI agents: best for teams that run every channel through Zendesk Suite
Zendesk AI agents are built into every Zendesk Suite and Support plan, and they are the best choice for teams that already route messaging, email and voice through Zendesk and want every handoff to land in the same agent workspace.
Pricing: As of November 2026, the Zendesk pricing page lists seats at $19 (Support Team), $55 (Suite Team) and $115 (Suite Professional) per agent a month on annual billing, or $25, $69 and $149 monthly. AI agents are included, with 5 automated resolutions per agent a month on the Team plans and 10 on Suite Professional, then $1.50 each committed or $2.00 pay-as-you-go. An automated resolution is Zendesk's billing unit: a request the AI agent resolves without escalating to a person, and only resolutions that pass Zendesk's verification check are billed. The trial is 14 days; there is no free plan.
Strengths: In Zendesk's workflow recipe, the AI agent escalates a messaging conversation to a human agent during business hours and files an email ticket outside them. Escalations are not billed, one AI agent covers messaging, email and, with Zendesk voice, phone calls, and it can call action-builder actions and MCP connectors.
Limits: The allowance is small: a three-agent Suite Team account includes 15 resolutions a month, and the pricing page and help center state its yearly cap differently, so get it in writing. Website chat needs messaging, which starts on Suite Team.
Verdict: The default for Zendesk Suite teams; if most questions come from the website, compare it with a flat front door using our Zendesk AI agent decision guide.
2. Freddy AI Agent: best for Freshdesk teams that want AI on email and chat
Freddy AI Agent is Freshworks' AI agent for Freshdesk, included on the Growth, Pro and Enterprise plans, and it is the best fit for teams already working tickets in Freshdesk who want AI answering email and, on Freshdesk Omni, web chat and WhatsApp in the same queue.
Pricing: As of November 2026, the Freshdesk pricing page lists seats at $19 (Growth), $55 (Pro) and $89 (Enterprise) per agent a month on annual billing. Plain Freshdesk is email-first and has no live chat; the chat AI agent needs Freshdesk Omni at $29, $79 or $119 an agent, or Freshchat. Freddy's first 500 sessions are free once per account, then sessions cost $49 per 100. A session is Freshworks' billing unit for one customer's time with the AI agent: on chat, "all interactions between the end-user and AI Agent within 24 hours from session initiation are counted as one session", resolved or not. The trial is 14 days.
Strengths: Freddy keeps the conversation context for the human who takes over, and a separate Email AI Agent answers mailbox replies.
Limits: The 500 free sessions are a one-time sample. At $0.49 a session, a session that ends in a handoff costs the same as one the AI resolves. When sessions run out, the AI stops and chats go to live agents, and bought session packs expire at the end of the billing cycle.
Verdict: The natural choice for Freshdesk teams with email and chat in one queue. Our Freddy, Zendesk and Zia add-on cost comparison works the session math for a five-agent team.
3. HubSpot Customer Agent: best for teams already on HubSpot Professional
HubSpot's Customer Agent is the AI agent built into HubSpot's Professional and Enterprise editions, and it is the best fit for teams whose tickets, contacts and deals already live in HubSpot and who want the AI to answer with that CRM context.
Pricing: As of November 2026, HubSpot's Customer Agent page prices it at $0.50 per resolution for messaging (50 HubSpot Credits) and $0.50 a minute for voice. HubSpot puts it this way: "A resolution means support was provided by the agent, and the conversation was not handed to a human rep for 72 hours." Professional editions include 3,000 credits a month, 60 resolutions if nothing else spends them: Smart CRM Professional from $45 a seat on annual billing, or Service Hub Professional at $90 to $100 a seat plus a one-time $1,500 onboarding fee. Extra credits cost $0.01 each, unused ones expire monthly, and buying a Service Hub Professional or Enterprise seat unlocks 14 days of unlimited use.
Strengths: It answers on chat, email, forms, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and inbound voice, runs up to 20 actions such as an order-status check, and hands conversations to your team with full context in the HubSpot help desk.
Limits: Free and Starter accounts must move to Professional first. The same credits pay for other HubSpot agents. Only a visitor-requested handoff stops a conversation counting as resolved, so a chat your agent picks up by assignment can still be billed.
Verdict: The right AI for HubSpot Professional teams. Our Customer Agent pricing guide works three monthly bills.
4. Intercom Fin: best single AI agent across Zendesk, Freshdesk, HubSpot and Salesforce
Intercom Fin is an AI agent that runs on top of your existing helpdesk, and it is the best choice for teams that want the deepest third-party integration: Fin replies inside Zendesk, Freshdesk and HubSpot tickets and hands live chats to your agents there.
Pricing: As of November 2026, the Fin pricing page charges $0.99 per outcome with a 50-outcome monthly minimum when Fin runs on your current helpdesk, with unlimited teammates and no setup fee; Fin's help center describes this as $49 a month including 50 resolutions. An outcome is one billable result per conversation; in support that means a resolution, where "No further help is requested after Fin's last answer", or a Procedure you configured to hand off to a human, and Fin also bills sales outcomes such as lead qualifications. The trial is 14 days with no credit card.
Strengths: Fin covers Zendesk tickets and Zendesk Messaging, Freshdesk tickets and Freshchat, and HubSpot email tickets and chat. According to Fin for HubSpot, a chat goes to the HubSpot agent queue "with full conversation history intact", or becomes a ticket with "the full conversation transcript". You can set usage limits to cap monthly spend.
Limits: The HubSpot ticket integration needs Service Hub Professional, and Zendesk Messaging needs a Sunshine licence. Fin's pricing page names Zendesk at the same $0.99 rate, but one helpdesk list on that page leaves Zendesk out, so confirm the Zendesk terms with sales. An outcome is billed when the customer stops replying for 24 hours after Fin's last answer, and a handoff Procedure costs the same as a resolution.
Verdict: The strongest cross-helpdesk agent for teams with volume; at 1,000 outcomes a month it costs about $990.
5. PepoChat: best low-cost AI front door that files tickets into your helpdesk
PepoChat is an AI support agent for websites with its own team inbox, and it is the best low-cost front door for a team that wants website chat answered and follow-ups filed as tickets in the Zendesk, Freshdesk, Zoho Desk or HubSpot account it already pays for.
Pricing: As of November 2026, the pricing page lists Free at $0 with 200 AI replies a month and every feature, helpdesk actions included; Starter at $39 a month ($390 a year) for 2,000 replies and 3 members; and Growth at $149 ($1,490 a year) for 10,000 replies and 10 members. Paid plans add $10 per 1,000 extra replies.
Strengths: Prebuilt actions create a Zendesk, Freshdesk or Zoho Desk ticket with an AI-written summary, a subject and the visitor's email, and give the visitor the ticket number. Asked about a ticket by number, the agent reports its status, subject and last update; nothing else from the ticket reaches the AI. Live chats escalate to the built-in team inbox with an email alert.
Limits: Nothing transfers live into a helpdesk's agent workspace, so live replies happen in PepoChat's inbox. Tickets carry a summary, not the transcript. The HubSpot actions find a contact and create a ticket, with no status check and no link between them. The chat runs in the website widget today (WhatsApp and Messenger in limited rollout), so it does not answer email tickets. PepoChat is a young product with few public reviews and no compliance certifications.
Verdict: The cheapest AI front door for a helpdesk you keep, if tickets rather than live transfers suit your team.

6. Chatbase: best for ticket escalation to many helpdesks, from $150
Chatbase is an AI agent platform that deploys one agent to the web, messaging apps, email and phone, and it suits teams that want escalation into nine helpdesks plus live handoff into Zendesk messaging, Freshchat or Salesforce.
Pricing: As of November 2026, Hobby is $40 a month ($32 billed yearly) for 700 message credits, but helpdesk integrations start on Basic at $150 a month ($120 yearly) with 4,000 credits and 3 members. Business is $500. A reply costs 1 to 5 credits depending on the model, and an Action can add a second model request. There is no free plan, only a 7-day trial.
Strengths: The Escalations action opens tickets in Zendesk, Freshdesk, HubSpot, Zoho Desk, Salesforce and four others, as the integrations overview lists. Chatbase says Zendesk is the only platform that receives the full transcript. The AI can also reply to Zendesk tickets or draft replies for review, and separate live chat actions hand conversations to Zendesk (Sunshine), Freshchat or Salesforce agents.
Limits: The $150 entry price buys the integrations whether you need one or nine. Credit costs move with the model you pick. No ticket status lookup is documented on the pages we read.
Verdict: A strong pick for multi-channel teams that want deeper Zendesk work than ticket creation.
7. Kommunicate: best for putting a bot inside Zendesk's own chat widget
Kommunicate is a customer service AI agent platform that can run inside Zendesk's web widget through Sunshine Conversations, and it fits Zendesk teams that want the bot and their human agents in one chat, plus Freshdesk teams that want chats forwarded as tickets.
Pricing: As of November 2026, the Kommunicate pricing page lists Starter at $40 a month ($34 yearly) for 250 conversations and one seat, and Professional at $200 ($167 yearly) for 2,000 conversations and three seats. Zendesk and Freshdesk integrations are on Professional; HubSpot and Salesforce are on Enterprise, priced by sales. The trial is 30 days with no card.
Strengths: With Sunshine, Kommunicate's agent answers in Zendesk's widget and human agents take assigned chats in the Zendesk dashboard. For Freshdesk, a ticket is created when a conversation is resolved or forwarded by an agent, with optional two-way reply sync. For HubSpot, it creates contacts and tickets and adds transcripts as notes.
Limits: HubSpot needs Enterprise, and Zendesk ticket creation is not documented on the Sunshine page.
Verdict: A good fit for Zendesk messaging and Freshdesk teams at a flat $200 a month.
8. Botpress: best for developers building custom HubSpot or Zendesk handoffs
Botpress is an AI agent platform with a visual studio, a natural-language builder and code, and it suits teams with a developer who want custom flows that file enriched Zendesk tickets or run a human handoff session in HubSpot.
Pricing: As of November 2026, Free covers 100 conversations. Plus is $150 a month billed yearly ($189 monthly) for 250 conversations with $25 of AI usage; Team is $750 billed yearly for 1,500 conversations and unlimited seats. Extra conversations come in auto-added packs of 100 at $65 on Plus or $50 on Team. Botpress counts "any exchange with at least two messages from the end user in the billing month" as a conversation.
Strengths: The official HubSpot integration creates and updates contacts, deals and leads, creates tickets and starts human-in-the-loop sessions in HubSpot. The Zendesk integration connects by OAuth and creates a ticket with the conversation history and a summary when a person is needed. Escalation can trigger on intent, sentiment or explicit rules.
Limits: Botpress lists Freshchat but no Freshdesk integration. Every action is wired into a flow by you, and conversation packs cannot be switched off.
Verdict: The flexible route when you have a builder and a specification.

9. Tidio: best for small teams that file Zendesk tickets by hand from live chat
Tidio is a live chat and helpdesk tool with the Lyro AI agent sold as a separate quota, and for helpdesk users it fits a small team whose operators turn chats into Zendesk tickets with one click and sync contacts to HubSpot.
Pricing: As of November 2026, Tidio has a Free plan with 50 billable conversations and 10 seats, Starter at $29 a month ($24.17 yearly) and Growth from $59. Lyro costs from $39 a month for 50 AI conversations. Lyro Connect, which adds Lyro to an existing helpdesk such as Zendesk, is only on Plus (from $300 a month plus usage) and Premium.
Strengths: The Zendesk integration lets an operator create a ticket from the chat window with notes and priority, and Tidio says it is on every plan, including Free. HubSpot and Salesforce app integrations are on all plans.
Limits: Below Plus, the AI does not file Zendesk tickets itself; a person does. Freshdesk is not listed, and Lyro's quota is a second meter on top of the chat plan.
Verdict: Fine for a live-chat-first team that files the odd ticket by hand.
Should you use your helpdesk's own AI or a separate AI agent?
Use your helpdesk's own AI when customers reach you on several channels inside the helpdesk and you want live handoffs in the same workspace; use a separate AI front door when most questions arrive through the website and per-resolution billing would cost more than the tickets it saves.
The native agents see email and messaging, use your routing and need no second login. A front door only answers the website, but it can cost a fraction of the native meter, and a conversation it answers never becomes a ticket. One case favours a front door outright: plain Freshdesk has no live chat, so a website agent that files Freshdesk tickets adds chat without moving every seat to Freshdesk Omni.
What does an AI front door cost on top of your helpdesk?
At 500 website conversations a month, the AI line ranges from $39 to $470; at 2,000 it ranges from $59 to about $1,970. The helpdesk seats are the same either way, so the table shows only the AI bill.
Assumptions, so you can swap in your own: three agents, website chat only, two AI replies per conversation, half of conversations resolved by the AI, monthly list prices, Zendesk at pay-as-you-go rates and HubSpot on Professional. These are estimates from published prices, not quotes.
| Tool | 500 conversations a month | 2,000 conversations a month | What drives the bill |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zendesk AI agents (Suite Team) | $470: 235 resolutions past the 15 included | $1,970: 985 resolutions at $2.00 | Resolutions past 5 per agent |
| Freddy AI Agent | $245: 500 sessions at $49 per 100 | $980: 2,000 sessions | Every session, resolved or not |
| HubSpot Customer Agent | $95: 190 resolutions past 60 in credits | $470: 940 resolutions | Resolutions, shared credits |
| Intercom Fin | About $248: 250 outcomes | About $990: 1,000 outcomes | Outcomes at $0.99 |
| PepoChat | $39: Starter, 1,000 replies | $59: Starter plus 2,000 overage replies | AI replies |
| Chatbase | $150: Basic, 1,000 credits | $150: Basic, 4,000 credits | Credits by model |
| Kommunicate | $200: Professional | $200: Professional | Conversations |
Prices from each vendor's own pages, checked 4 November 2026. Freddy's one-time 500 free sessions are ignored because they run out in the first month.
Three caveats change the order. Zendesk bills only resolutions that pass its verification check, so its line can come in lower. HubSpot Starter accounts must first buy Professional seats. And the native agents also answer email, which a website front door does not.

Frequently asked questions
- Can I use a third-party AI chatbot with Zendesk?
- Yes. Zendesk accepts tickets from outside tools through its API and chats through Sunshine Conversations. As of November 2026, Intercom Fin replies inside Zendesk tickets and messaging, Chatbase and Botpress file tickets with conversation context, Kommunicate runs inside Zendesk's chat widget, and PepoChat creates tickets and checks their status. Your agents then work those tickets in Zendesk as usual.
- Is Zendesk's AI agent worth it for a small team?
- It depends on your volume and channels. Zendesk includes AI agents in every plan but only 5 automated resolutions per agent a month on the Team plans, then $1.50 to $2.00 each. A three-agent team whose AI resolves 250 website chats a month pays about $470 at pay-as-you-go rates, on top of seats. If most questions come from your website, a flat-priced front door is usually cheaper.
- Does Freshdesk have an AI chatbot?
- Yes. Freddy AI Agent is included on Freshdesk's Growth, Pro and Enterprise plans. On plain Freshdesk it answers email; web chat and WhatsApp need Freshdesk Omni or Freshchat. As of November 2026 the first 500 sessions are free once per account, then sessions cost $49 per 100, whether or not the AI resolves the conversation.
- Can a chatbot create HubSpot tickets?
- Yes. HubSpot's own Customer Agent hands conversations to your help desk, and several outside tools create HubSpot tickets through its API: Intercom Fin, Chatbase, Botpress, Kommunicate on its Enterprise plan, and PepoChat, whose agent can also find a contact by email. PepoChat's ticket lands in the default pipeline with an AI-written summary and is not linked to the contact record.
- Will a chatbot create duplicate tickets?
- Occasionally. An action that retries after a network error can file the same ticket twice, and PepoChat's actions run at least once, so a rare duplicate is possible. Bot duplicates look alike: same requester, near-identical subject, created minutes apart. Tag bot tickets so they share one view, and merge any pair you find in the helpdesk.
- Should I use my helpdesk's native AI or a separate chatbot?
- Use the native AI if customers reach you by email, messaging and phone inside the helpdesk and you want live handoffs in one workspace. Use a separate AI front door if most questions come from your website and per-resolution billing would outweigh the tickets saved. Avoid running both on one page, because visitors would see two chat bubbles and two sets of answers.
