Set up your first agent

From a new account to a working chat widget on your site in about ten minutes.

This guide takes you from a new account to a working agent on your site. Nothing here needs a developer, and everything in it is on the free plan.

Before you start

You need a website you can add a script tag to (or a WordPress site where you can install plugins), and some content the agent should know: your website itself is usually enough to begin with.

  1. Create your account and workspace

Go to app.pepochat.com/sign-up. Sign up with your email and a password, or with Google. With email, you confirm your address with the code we send before you can continue. You are then asked to name your workspace: this is the organization your team, knowledge and widget belong to.

  2. Add your knowledge

Open Knowledge Base and click Add New. Paste your website address to import the whole site, or upload documents. A whole-site import counts as one knowledge source. Importing runs in the background; you can carry on while it finishes. See Add your website and Upload documents.

  3. Shape how the widget looks and greets

Open Widget Customization. Set the brand color, the welcome headline, the assistant's name, the greeting message and three suggested questions. The live preview on the right updates as you type. Click Save Settings. Details in Customize the widget.

  4. Install the widget on your site

Open Widget Setup, copy your Organization ID, and pick your platform for a ready-made snippet. Paste it before </body> on your site, or on WordPress install the plugin and paste the ID there. See Install the widget and WordPress.

  5. Have a conversation

Open your site, click the launcher and ask something your content covers. Then ask something it does not, and watch the agent offer your team instead of guessing. Both conversations appear live under Conversations.

  6. Connect a tool (optional)

Open App Integrations, pick Shopify, Stripe, Zendesk, Slack or another provider, and follow the numbered steps on its card. Test each action with real inputs before you enable it. See How integrations work.

  7. Invite your team

Open Team and invite colleagues by email. They accept from the email and land in your workspace. The free plan is single-member; Starter includes 3 and Growth 10, with extra seats available. See Team members and roles.
